As an attempt to find Dubai’s identity in mass modernity, Droog has conceived the Droog al Arab to answer the question on how to connect global ambitions and the local context. And the fact that they’ve partnered with local design heroes Traffic ensures authenticity. So far the answer is products and services to challenge Dubai’s modernity by integrating Dubai’s historical and geographical resources, which will culminate in a Droog al Arab pop up store in Dubai by 2010. We’re not sure how identity always comes back to shopping, but we kind of like it!
