Hope the day is treating you well! We’re back from Ghana — thanks to Chris for all of his great travel advice. Our Cultural Capital trailer made its African premiere at the University of Ghana. It was extremely well received. We had heard about African sign painting but seeing it in person (and in context) was remarkable. Sign painting is a alive and well. Despite its appropriation for western art galleries, it’s an everyday marketing device and not just a collectible. Digital printing is still very expensive or nonexistent in some parts of the country, so talented sign painters are hired to promote businesses and services on almost any available surface.

If anyone who needs a videograher, we strongly recommend Jack’s in Cape Coast.

A good place to start learning English is on the walls of Accra’s central market. This one is advertising a nursery school.
