I once did a performance art piece dressed as a ballerina. On my stomach, I did lots of gesturing and groaning/moaning. A toy keyboard backed me with beats. And there was the performance that once had a socially relevant title, but has since been reduced to the Sprayed with Milk by a Fire Hydrant performance:

Those performances might not be what Metro has in mind, but I hope more than buskers show up for this:
The Metro’s Art in Transit program and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for live performances at Metrorail stations, allowing local performers the chance to showcase their talents at select Metrorail station entrances. Auditions are on a first-come, first-served basis. A photograph and one-page biography or resume should accompany each individual or group auditioning.
