He can beatbox and robospazz but who is he? He’s Lumberob!

Rob Erickson performs as Lumberob. Lumberob doesn’t perform too often outside of New York City, but when he does he’s often collaborating with my hometown hero Jad Fair.

I saw Lumberob perform at a wedding in South Carolina earlier this year. Possibly fueled by party punch, he performed with just a microphone and an effects pedal. My heart skipped a beat when his feet stomped the ground for percussion and jabbed the pedal for self-referential rthytmic loop de loops. Swoon!
